Erik Parker, “New Soul”

Funky figuration and an intense DayGlo palette have been the hallmarks of Parker’s work in recent years and his latest work in no exception. For his current show, he’s created a series of tondos depicting psychedelic, paradisiacal landscape featuring lush vegetation and lambent pools of water. Also on view are a series portrait heads cobbled out of scenic fragments in a manner that recalls Arcimboldo’s proto-surreal fruit and vegetable faces.
