Fernando Bryce, "El Mundo en Llamas"

This Peruvian artist's photo-based drawings examine the way historical events are presented by the media, noting the manner in which the context of images is edited or elided. One series here, for example, contrasts the covers from two diametrically opposite World War II–era publications, dating from the months between July and October 1944: Aufbau, a German-Jewish journal produced in New York; and Das Reich, a weekly newspaper put out by Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister.
