Pablo Picasso, "La femme-fleur (Françoise Gilot)"
Apparently, Gagosian Gallery has not yet exhausted the possibilities of mounting museum-quality Picasso shows. This exhibition, like last year's “Picasso and Marie-The?re?se: L’amour fou,” focuses on Picasso's relationship with one of his mistresses—this time, Franc?oise Gilot. Gilot, however, was a painter in her own right, and in a you-go-girl twist, this exhibition hangs her canvases next to the maestro's. The operating curatorial presumption here, one can safely assume, is that there is no danger her efforts will outshine his, but who knows?
