Time Out says

In a rare opportunity for East Coast viewers, this modern masterpiece has left its home at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California, to take up a four-month residency in the Frick's Oval Room. Van Gogh painted this portrait of a shepard in Arles, France, during the summer of 1888, and it is considered one of the most important in his oeuvre.
