"Wonder of the Age: Master Painters of India, 1100–1900"

Eight centuries of Indian painting—heretofore categorized according to regional styles or dynastic periods—gets the auteur-theory treatment in this show of 220 objects, which for the first time makes the point of linking works to individual artists, among them such unfamiliar names as Farrukh Beg, Mansur and Chitarman II. Roll over, Rembrandt, tell Delacroix the news.
