Alex Waterman reboots Robert Ashley's seminal "television opera" Perfect Lives with this Spanish-language video/stage show that stars singer-songwriter Ned Sublette as R and Cuban keyboard player Elio Villafranca as Buddy, "the greatest piano player in the world." While the narrative remains the same, the setting has been moved from the Midwest to the U.S.-Mexico border. Various segments are being presented on different dates (see whitney.org for more information), and all are being filmed live as they're performed.
