Mister Saturday Night's Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin
Mon Feb 8 2010
Mister Saturday Night—it sounds like a song lyric, doesn’t it? The one you might be thinking of is Duke Ellington’s “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” which starts off with the line “Missed the Saturday dance.” Anyway, for our purposes, Mister Saturday Night is one of the best parties going in NYC right now. Helmed by scene stalwarts Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin, this one-time wandering wingding—which seems to have found a home base at Brooklyn’s fun Market Hotel—has hosted some amazing spinners and artists in the past few months. DJ Harvey, Moodymann, Larry Heard, Traxx: These are the kinds of guys that are spoken of in hushed tones in the house-music world (at least by the music nerds), and that’s just a small sample of those who have plied their trade at the bash. But Carter and Harkin aren’t exactly chopped liver themselves, and here’s a mix of deep-and-jacking goodness from the boys to prove it. If you like what you hear—and if you’re into house, you probably will— than get yourself to the party’s February 13 edition, featuring guest sets from Azari & III and Floating Points.
