On April 29 New York City Ballet unveils Les Bosquets, a pièce d'occasion inspired by the French riots of 2005. Conceived by street artist JR—whose installation last season transformed the promenade of the David H. Koch Theater into a swirl of dancers' bodies for NYCB's art series—the work features soloist Lauren Lovette and guest artist Lil Buck with music by Woodkid.

It should hardly come as a shock, but JR is a whiz at Instagram: Check out his rehearsal shots, costume fittings and more at @jr. In one image, he faces the dancers with his legs planted while leaning precariously on the outside edges of his sneakers: "FYI, I am the one learning here," he writes. Scroll down—the studio process happened several weeks ago—but keep an eye on his Instagram: He's back in town this weekend to put the finishing touches on Les Bosquets. Here's hoping the pointe shoe fits.
