The city's hottest hotel restaurants have tended to offer style over substance. But the Ace Hotel's flagship dining room—the plaid-clad urban hunting lodge from rock & roll restaurateur Ken Friedman and his Spotted Pig chef April Bloomfield—has deftly balanced both. Though the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, it never panders to its boutique hotel setting. Instead, you'll find some of the city's most audacious nose-to-tail cooking—a gut-busting full English breakfast, an enormous sausage-stuffed pig's foot drowning in a heady sauce—food that's as rich and fatty as it is hard to resist. The Breslin Bar and Dining Room Ace Hotel, 16 W 29th St between Fifth Ave and Broadway (212-679-1939)
