Recipe: Uncle Angelo's Egg Nog

Courtesy of New York's "King Cocktail," Dale DeGroff

Serves six

6 eggs (separated)
1 quart milk
1 pint cream
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg (grind it fresh—the stuff in the bottles died when they put it there)
3/4 cup sugar
3 ounces bourbon
3 ounces rum

Beat egg yolks until they turn light in color, almost white. Add half a cup of sugar as you beat. Add milk, cream and liquor, mixing until blended. Then beat the egg whites until they peak, gradually adding the remaining sugar. When you are ready to serve, fold the whites into the yolk mixture. Grate fresh nutmeg over the drink before serving.
