This wild triptych helped put Mexican cinema back on the map, as both human and canine lives intertwine in a manner quite Pulp Fiction–al. The most striking story line is the first, in which a desperate young man enters his pet in vicious dogfights in order to earn the money he needs to run away with his sister-in-law. It’s rough going for the squeamish.
