The first film is Jean Rouch’s 1955 short about an African cult ritual. No less than Margaret Mead praised the second offering, Peter Adair's 1967 documentary on crazed holy rollers in West Virginia, as the greatest anthropological film she’d ever seen. The scenes of snake handlers alone justify the hype.
