April Sours Weekend

Jimmy’s No. 43 , East Village Tuesday May 1 2012 12:00 - 2:00
April Sours Weekend
Sour beers and lambics are the focus of this extended weekend celebration, hosted by East Village craft-beer haven Jimmy’s No. 43. While supplies last, snag unusual and rare brews from the U.S. (Jolly Pumpkin, Allagash, Anchorage) and Europe (Cantillon, Dr. Fritz Briem, Mikkeller); prices start at $6. A slew of special events are on offer for those who want to dig deeper: Taste six of the mouth-puckering brews at the weekly Tuesday Tasting on May 1 (7:30–9pm; $10). Or sit down to an all-duck dinner on Mon 30, in which family-style dishes prepared by guest chef Brendan Corr (City Bakery, Co.) will be paired with eight tart pours (7–10pm; $45). In addition, a series of $10 seminars will take place all weekend: Learn about the history of wild beers and the evolution of Berliner Weisse from Chris Cuzme (NYC Homebrewers Guild) on April 28, or about European sour beers from B.R. Rolya (Shelton Brothers) on April 29. Check jimmysno43.com/events for the full schedule.
