East Village gastropub Jimmy’s No. 43 celebrates the cold-weather season with this cassoulet-and-beer-pairing bash—a prelude to the annual benefit competition heralding the same dish on Sunday. Dig into unlimited four-ounce bowls of the hearty French bean stew from Josh Stokes (Gramercy Tavern) and Patti Jackson (I Trulli). True to the joint’s locavore ethos, the dishes are made with regional ingredients, including Cayuga Pure Organics beans and meat from Union Square Greenmarket farmers. The bar offers four-ounce pours of ten local (Rockaway Brewing Company Black Gold stout) and imported (Mikkeller Santa’s Little Helper holiday ale) brews—taste your way through the range and then vote on which ones pair best with each cassoulet variation.
