Time Out says

New York’s LGBT film festival, presented by HBO, shines light on the more impressive and impactful films that highlight the gay community. This year’s event features movies, documentaries and shorts to view, not to mention gay-empowered events and talks with some of the filmmakers. The 30th annual edition boasts over 140 films from around the world. Catch the premiere gala of Ondi Timoner’s Mapplethorpe biography, starring Matt Smith; along with a screening of the much-anticipated conversion therapy nightmare Boy Erased, starring Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman and Troye Sivan.

Also on slate is the provocative Kenyan love story Rafiki and the old-school Hollywood documentary Making Montgomery Clift. Other foreign features include Reinventing Marvin, Retablo and The Heiresses. Documentaries include the trans fitness model feature Man Made and Bixa Travesty, which focuses on the life of trans Brazilian singer Linn da Quebrada. Among the heavy features are plenty of high-camp toasts, like the new slasher Killer Unicorn.

Count on a wide range of debuts from new and beloved filmmakers at this epic edition.
