Many trailers tell you to "see it in IMAX," but be careful: Not all IMAX theaters are created equal. Instead of a phony converted screen, Lincoln Center is Manhattan's only legitimate option, featuring impeccable projection standards and a top-notch audio system. You can even reserve specific seats.

The first big-screen Smurfs movie was a harmless Saturday-morning romp that earnestly catered to the youngest crowds. For the sequel, director Raja Gosnell sticks to the formula: Smurfette (voiced by Katy Perry) is again kidnapped by the Great Gar...

With one obvious exception, toy stories don’t have the luckiest big-screen pedigree: The results are often either sugary cartoons for undemanding kids or noisy blockbusters for brain-dead teens. If the producers of The LEGO Movie had taken either ...

The virtue of courage is high up on the list of Disney princess must-haves (just below kindness, beauty and a strapping prince in tight pants). So three cheers for Dreamgirls director Bill Condon and star Emma Watson for having the courage to make...

This interstellar sci-fi misfire dreams up one of the most intriguing "What would you do?" scenarios in recent movie memory—and takes it precisely nowhere. The setup is essentially Red Dwarf meets Robinson Crusoe, as cryogenically frozen interplan...

As inspiring as rockets’ red glare heading into space, this huge-hearted crowd-pleaser has a sophisticated idea running through it: By and large, busy scientists don’t have time for racism or sexism. The idea proved true in reality at Virginia’s L...

Absolutely love having a real IMAX theater in the neighborhood - just went here to see the new Star Wars, purchased tickets online the day before and got to choose our seats. I love going into a movie with a solid gameplan instead of having to arrive super early and scramble for seats then sit through 30min of previews...here, we get to show up just in time to enjoy the flick without having to deal with anyone asking us if we can "move down" to accommodate someone.
