Israeli singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan has a high, rough, distinctive voice that's drawn comparisons to Robert Plant and puts us in mind of Jimmy Scott singing Janis Joplin numbers (a good thing). He matches it to pretty, moody arrangements (let's throw some Joshua Tree–era U2 into the mix). Promising stuff.
