The Village Vanguard usually runs like clockwork, presenting acts on a strict Tuesday-through-Sunday schedule. But here, the club breaks with tradition, making way for a weekend stand from A-list sax powerhouse Branford Marsalis and his feared, revered working quartet, last heard on 2012's Four MFs Playin' Tunes. The Mar 3 gig follows an "and friends" format and benefits the family of Dwayne Burno, a top-notch bassist who passed away this past December; given the depth of Marsalis's Rolodex, we expect some boldfaced names to turn up. (We're not making any promises, but we did happen to notice that Sting, Marsalis's old boss, is playing MSG Mar 4.…)
