Cedar Walton is about as good as it gets when it comes to mainstream jazz piano. His takes on standards and jazz classics (especially the ones he's written, such as "Bolivia" or "Ugetsu") pack plenty of rolling bluesy thunder. This week he heads up a trio with bassist David Williams and drummer Willie Jones III.
