This year marks the 50th anniversary of Denny Zeitlin's recorded debut, and he's kept busy ever since, finding time to release a steady stream of albums—and score the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers—while pursuing a separate career in psychiatry. This week, the inventive, hard-grooving pianist gigs in his two preferred formats, playing solo (as on last year's electronically enhanced Both/And release) on May 2, and with the top-notch rhythm team of bassist Buster Williams and drummer Matt Wilson on May 3.
