Ace young guitarist Dom Flemons has branched out from his usual gig with lauded roots trio Carolina Chocolate Drops (whose members trained under traditional-fiddle legend Joe Thompson) to collaborate with Piedmont-style blues veteran Boo Hanks. (When asked what the blues is, Hanks has said: “Hard times, disappointment and mistreatment.” Asked if he could expand, he replied, “No.”) Tonight the pair plugs a new album, Buffalo Junction, which rolls and hums with deliciously old-timey country-blues.
