46. Tom Browne, "Funkin' for Jamaica (N.Y.)" (1980)

Though rarely celebrated, Jamaica, Queens, has been one of the city's black-music hotbeds since jazz greats like Fats Waller and Count Basie bought houses in the area in the '30s and '40s. Trumpeter Tom Browne finally gave the 'hood its theme song with this 1980 tribute, which boasts contributions from fellow "Jamaica Kats" such as bass legend Marcus Miller and keyboardist Bernard Wright.
