John Tchicai's Six Points

Danish-African tenor saxophonist John Tchicai first attracted attention for his presence among the howling hordes on John Coltrane's avant-garde breakthrough, Ascension (a touchstone for tonight's performance). After a long period spent with a low profile, Tchicai's been back on the scene lately; his current sextet includes stalwart locals like violinist Rosie Hertlein and drummer Ches Smith.
