Sara Serpa

Portugese singer-composer Sara Serpa puts forth a compelling vision of vocal jazz: Alternately tight and abstract, her bold compositions highlight her airily precise voice. Serpa has a great new duo disc—Camera Obscura—out with pianist Ran Blake, but tonight she leads a quintet with guitarist André Matos, pianist Kris Davis, bassist Ben Street and drummer Marcus Gilmore.
