Ever a nimble improviser, vocalist Sheila Jordan cops to a senior moment on her recent live set, Winter Sunshine: "I’m having a mental collapse, or lapse, or whatever you want to call it," she says. And if anyone can ably weather an occasional circuit break, it's Jordan, who rarely sticks to a script, other than the one she's making up on the bandstand. She's playing here with one of her surest partners, pianist Steve Kuhn, celebrating her 85th birthday.
