Jeffrey Lewis and Peter Stampfel are anarchic New York folkies of different generations—Stampfel's Holy Modal Rounders were kicking around before Lewis was born—but similar sensibilities. When the two singers share a stage, they take turns on new and old songs, and the shows are a hoot: wordy, loose and funny. This week the duo celebrates its sophomore full-length, Hey Hey It's…The Jeffrey Lewis & Peter Stampfel Band, with a pair of gigs. The Everymen, the Brooklyn What and Shellshag share the bill at Shea Stadium on May 16, and Crazy & the Brains and Berth Control support at Bowery Electric on May 17.
