If you like eating pizza, or enjoy running with the promise of pizza, you should be a part of the 5 Boro Pizza Challenge on Sept 28. Participants—traveling via public transport, bike or on foot—will stop at locally-owned pizzerias in each borough. (Note: Traveling by car is strictly outlawed!)

Racers will be tasked with mapping out their desired routes to every borough (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island) and stoping for a full slice in each, showing proof of eating at all five by posting to Instagram and using the hashtag #5boropizzachallenge.

To check in, grab a race t-shirt and hear the five chosen pizzerias, participants should head to Red Cube (140 Broadway in Lower Manhattan) at 11am the morning of the race. Pizza joints from previous years have included picks like Sal & Carmine Pizza, Sunnyside Pizza, Prince Street Pizza, Polito's Pizza, Paulie's Pizzeria among others.

All the proceeds for the city-wide pizza extravaganza will go to Transportation Alternativeswhich advocates walking, biking and using public transportation. You'll need to register online beforehand and spend $35.

Plus, you can definitely consider this a form of exercise while chowing down on pizza like a champ. What more could you want in an early-fall day anyways? So ready your swipes and stay focused on the fortifying trifecta of cheese, sauce and dough to reach the finish line.
