So never in my wildest imaginings would I think I'd be relieved to be in Boston over New York (the pleat-front pants! the colonial obsession! the horror!), and yet here I am, en route to Ptown, natch, and pleased as can be, because my Massachusetts lesbian marriage has been reconfirmed, and more allowed, by the state legislature. Those cool folks overwhelmingly outvoted the Romney-esque holdovers to reject the proposed one-man-one-woman amendment that would have gone before voters in 2008. It's embarrassing how much more on it this state's decision-makers are compared with New York's—who decided last year that straight people needed marriage because they could procreate by accident, and queer folks couldn't and therefore had no use for it. So I say, ahhh...Boston. Thank you. Bring on the chowda.
