Female trouble

Some of you may know that I have a deep, deep love for Mulholland Drive. So capacious is my ardor for David Lynch's masterpiece that it encompasses all the films that obliquely inspired it—that is, pretty much any movie with a blond and a brunet. Which is why I'll be at the Avon Theatre in Stamford, Connecticut, on Wednesday, June 6, to introduce Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, starring cinema's ur-coupling of fair- and raven-haired: Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. I'll quote from Jane's autobiography, My Path and My Detours, and attest that GPB is one of the dirtiest motion pictures ever made.
