It's raining men

In the whirl of Romeos loving and losing their Juliets, New York City Ballet announced a slew of new promotions. The lucky four to go from soloist to principal are Sterling Hyltin—the lone female—Jonathan Stafford, Daniel Ulbricht and Andrew Veyette; and from the corps de ballet to soloist come Robert Fairchild, Craig Hall (Lord, finally), Seth Orza (ditto) and Sean Suozzi (who, despite his physical flaws, is totally growing on me). All eight performed leading roles in Peter Martins's Romeo + Juliet, but for me, the best appearance was by Veyette as Mercutio. Truthfully, he really should have been Romeo. He's a brilliant partner, actor and virtuosic dancer thrown into one.
