Top five: NYC nightlife scenes in movies

In recognition of this week's "Late-night New York" issue, which is packed with amazing after-hours activities, like throwing down at one of the best bashes in town—many of which you can experience this weekend—we've rounded up our favorite cinematic soirees, the ones we'd love to attend if little things like reality didn't get in the way. (Okay, that sounded way more nerdy and desperate than we intended.) Click past the jump and watch the clips below—and let us know what we missed.

5. The Last Days of Disco (1998)
Chlo Sevigny (who we just chatted with) and Kate Beckinsale dance, apartment hunt and flirt with few hyperliterate dudes (including the scene-stealing Chris Eigmann) in Whit Stillman's last flick. Between all of the getting down at a soon-to-close Studio 54--like club, they pick apart the sexual implications of Lady and the Tramp. Naturally.

4. Shortbus (2006)
Onetime TONY cover boy John Cameron Mitchell helmed this funny, moving love letter to NYC and sex, which culminates with this Justin Bond--led sing-along.

3. After Hours (1985)
Keep an eye out for a spotlight-wielding Martin Scorsese in this clip, wherein Griffin Dunne struggles to work his way through people moshing to Bad Brains' "Pay to Cum."

2. 200 Cigarettes (1999)
A pretty insane cast (Courtney Love, Dave Chappelle, Paul Rudd, Ben Affleck, Elvis Costello) eventually makes its way to a passed-out Martha Plimpton's LES pad on New Year's Eve 1981. Hookups ensue.

1. Midnight Cowboy (1969)
Jon Voight trips hard at a wild Factoryesque bash, while Dustin Hoffman stuffs complimentary cold cuts into his pockets. It's kind of a nightmarish scene, actually, but man, this party would have been something to see.
