We were there: Pink Cross

Very aptly named local drag star Sweetied recently landed in the hospital and—like so many people—she was without insurance. NYC's nightlife creatures swooped in where the American health-care system failed: Wednesday night's Pink Cross benefit brought out a delightful mix of drag queens, art stars, burlesque performers and more. It might not be enough to erase Sweetie's mountain of medical bills, but the proceeds certainly put a dent in it, and it was a lovely reminder that the city's queer community can actually be a community sometimes.
