If there was any doubt that plaid is a good investment this winter, that was put to rest at the seventh-anniversary-blowout version of the popular bear party Snaxx. The club was packed with every shade of tartan stretched over the furry, burly frames of happy revelers. (Though ironic tees and good old shirtlessness were also popular choices, and we chatted up one chap in head-to-toe leather; "I was supposed to go to the Eagle," he explained.)
For the special occasion, Snaxx honchos Rich King and Gustavo (along with new partner Derek Scott Graves) moved the fete from the packed basement of the West Side Tavern to the roomier midtown club, Rebel. Guest DJs played for a chilled-out crowd in the All-Star Lounge, while a sweaty, boozy mass moved with manic energy on the main floor. It was sloppy, messy and completely fun. The bears sure know how to have a good time...
