Cafe Luxembourg isn’t trying to be anything other than what it is—a comfortable neighborhood bistro successfully executing traditional French-American fare. But this restaurant’s signature offering isn’t on the menu, it’s in the casual comfort created by the fusion of a simple white and red decor, attentive, unfussy service and uncomplicated food expertly prepared. Seasonal starters and desserts like ricotta-stuffed zucchini blossoms and barely baked blueberry crumble punctuate a short menu of steak frites, grilled fish and crème brûlée, and the wine list, though skewing toward France, also offers some pleasant New World surprises.
