Chai Home Kitchen

This Columbus Circle spin-off of a Williamsburg restaurant trumps its mod Brooklyn locale, thanks to co-owner and architect Futoshi Fukuda’s over-the-top industrial touches like poured-cement floors and the bathroom’s faux-flower–covered, see-through ceiling. The food makes less of an impression. Succulent shrimp couldn’t help the bland pad thai, and while we liked the starter of two tiny crab cakes, the portions were disappointingly modest.
