Julia Allison is the new dating writer for Time Out New York. She has previously composed dating columns for Coed magazine (a collegiate version of Maxim) and the newspaper AM New York.Julia also contributes to Cosmo and Maxim and once filmed a pilot as the host of a dating show involving pets. (It seemed like a good idea at the time.)
Julia makes frequent appearances on FoxNews, and has also appeared on E!, CNN’s Showbiz Tonight, MSNBC’s Scarborough Country, CNBC’s The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, CBS and Fox 5 News and America’s cheesiest dating show Elimidate. Consequently, people describe her as a “sexpert” or “relationship-pert” or “brain-damaged Bradshaw”—all titles that she accepts with pride.
Way back when, Julia got her start as the first college dating columnist at Georgetown University, penning a column called "Sex on the Hilltop." She worked for a time as a legislative correspondent for an Illinois congressman and provided political commentary for Comcast TV during the 2004 election but ultimately concluded that dating commentary is way more fun.
Julia lives in Manhattan and is completely single for the first time since (more or less) the age of 20. Her father is still waiting for her to get a "real job" with health insurance.
