Horseman Antiques (CLOSED)

There’s a reason Horseman Antiques is one of the only antiques stores left on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn: It’s got the best stuff. Too much, in fact, which is why owner Donald Gianchetta opened up a second location, in Gowanus. The warehouselike space acts as a storage spot for tons of antique furniture and salvaged goods that are delivered weekly, until they can be transported to Gianchetta’s original storefront (which means lower prices for all you bargain hunters). You’ll find all kinds of items haphazardly displayed, including beautiful stained-glass window panels ($300–$1,000) and bronze statues ($300–$5,000). Peruse the collection of midcentury-modern gems, like an Eames rocking chair ($650) or chrome-plated ’60s Sputnik lamps ($900–$1,200). There’s also a huge collection of industrial metal furniture that’s been stripped, sanded and lacquered; nab file drawers ($100–$200) or a 1960s metal cabinet ($600).
