Giorgio Armani Beauty Nail Lacquers

Although Giorgio Armani has had a cosmetics line since 2001, the Italian designer expanded his high-end beauty offerings to include nail polish last month. The range of 18 classic shades ($20 each) is evenly divided into three groupings: aquas, beiges and reds. Between the flat, fluffy brush that evenly spreads the opaque formula and the high-gloss finish, which obviates the need for a topcoat, the lacquers are the closest thing to a manicure-in-a-bottle we’ve encountered.

Marc Jacobs Beauty

“Go big or go home” should be Marc Jacobs’s motto for his ambitious makeup debut: Not only is the line sizable (it launched with a whopping 122 products!), but the fashion darling double-downed with a new West Village store dedicated to the cosmetics. In addition to souped-up essentials such as lightweight liquid ($48) and powder ($46) foundations, brightening concealers ($39), volumizing mascaras ($26) and gel eyeliners ($25), expect lustrous nail polish ($18), vanilla-scented lipsticks ($30), blush ($30) and seven-color eye-shadow palettes ($59) in boldly pigmented shades. There’s also an SPF 18 lip balm ($24), a brow gel ($24) and four makeup brush styles ($38–$78 each) done up in the collection’s signature curvaceous, sleek black packaging. 212-924-6126,

Michael Kors Beauty

The sportswear king takes a three-pronged approach in introducing his first beauty foray outside of fragrance. A body-care collection featuring moisturizing cream ($60), dry-oil spray ($60) and scented bath beads ($45) is designed to maintain parts (legs, neck, shoulders) normally exposed while wearing Kors’s clothing. To achieve the sun-kissed glow seen on the brand’s models (and the perpetually bronzed Kors himself), there’s sandalwood-scented self-tanner ($32), soothing after-sun lotion ($32) and a pearlized lip balm ($28). But the heart of the line is centered around a trio of new scents ($95) that embodies the moods of his jet-setting clientele: sporty, sexy and glam. Each perfume corresponds to a bronzing powder ($50), lipstick ($24), lipgloss ($24), and two polish shades ($18) in nude, bright and vampy hues, respectively. Visit

Tom Ford for Men

Just two years after launching a cosmetics line, the preternaturally well-manicured Tom Ford branches out into men’s grooming, offering eight products inspired by his own preening routine. While the majority of the collection is luxe yet straightforward skin care—foaming gel cleanser ($48), oil-free moisturizer ($105), shea-butter lip balm ($60) and eye cream featuring a cooling applicator ($75)—certain items, such as an ultrarich mud mask ($60) and a concentrated serum ($150), are for males a bit more advanced in the beauty department. The line also veers into man makeup, with a lightweight bronzing gel ($48) and three shades of concealer ($40) for masking dark circles, blemishes and razor nicks. 212-753-7300,

Tory Burch Beauty

Unlike other designers who get a few fragrances under their belt before considering cosmetics, Tory Burch is making the leap to beauty in one fell swoop. Her debut eponymous eau de parfum (1oz $62, 1.7oz $82, 3.4oz $110)—a citrusy floral grounded by vetiver and sandalwood—is simultaneously captured in a rich body cream ($80), a lightweight lotion ($50), a foaming shower gel ($50) and a scented candle ($60). The tightly edited collection also includes a pinky nude lipstick ($32), matching lip-and-cheek tint ($38) and a bronzer-and-blush palette ($48), plus a retractable face brush ($48) for creating a natural, understated look. The only thing overt about the whole shebang is an air of refined opulence, exuded through the gorgeous packaging that was inspired by Burch’s mother’s bedroom vanity. 38–40 Little W 12th St at Washington St (212-929-0125) • 797 Madison Ave between 67th and 68th Sts (212-510-8371) • 257 Elizabeth St between Houston and Prince Sts (212-334-3000) •
