Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's groundbreaking 1945 musical, about a rough-hewn carnival barker and the girl he loves, is a whole lot darker and weirder than you might remember. This week the New York Philharmonic gives it the royal treatment, directed by John Rando and featuring an all-star cast that includes Nathan Gunn, Kelli O'Hara, Stephanie Blythe, Shuler Hensley, Jason Danieley, Jessie Mueller, Kate Burton and John Cullum.
