Just when you think you're out…they pull you back in! The 2012 New York International Fringe Festival may be over, but 19 of its 187 shows will live on in September, thanks to the FringeNYC Encore Series.

The good news is that the list of extensions includes some of the festival's best-received and most popular entries. Four shows received the top prize for Overall Production at the Fringe's Overall Excellence Awards, announced on August 27. Two of those pieces—5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche and Independents—are part of the extension. (The other two were Edward Gant's Amazing Feats of Loneliness and boxplay.) Thee of the five winners for Solo Performance—Mahmoud, Salamander Starts Over and The Zebra Shirt of Lonely Children—are on offer as well, along with honorees for Playwriting (Pieces), Ensemble (Gay Camp) and Costumes (Pulp Shakespeare). Also returning is Have I Got a Girl for You, which took the TheaterMania Audience Favorite Award.

Performances are split among the SoHo Playhouse and its downstairs sister, the Huron Club (both at 15 Vandam St between Sixth Ave and Varick St), and the Players Theatre (115 MacDougal St between W Houston and W 3rd Sts). Visit the 2012 FringeNYC Encores Series website to buy tickets.
