Mammelephant

Lanxing Fu's mini-epic play with songs, feturing music by Trevor New, imagines the life of genetic hybrid—bred by crossing the elephant with the extinct woolly mammoth—in northeastern Russia's decreasingly icy Republic of Sakha. Nana Dakin directs the premiere for the green-minded Superhero Clubhouse; the cast comprises Jen Anaya, Imani Russell, Izzy Sazak and Zhanna Zakharova (who grew up in Sakha and plays the khomus, a traditional Yakutian kind of mouth harp).
