The Ring Cycle: Part 1+2

Dave Dalton and Performance Lab 115 offer an energetic but scattershot retelling of the first two works in Wagner’s operatic tetralogy, in which battles between gods and giants are reimagined as pro-wrestling matches, and the Rhinemaidens offer lap dances to Alberich the dwarf. In spite of a few sweet spots, this mash-up neither sheds light on an iconic work nor is quite funny enough to justify its irreverence.—Pamela Newton
