The upcoming pre–Civil War drama from director Steve McQueen (Shame, Hunger) tells the true story of Solomon Northup, a free man living in the North who is kidnapped and enslaved on a Louisiana plantation for the titular amount of time. London-born thespian Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Solomon, with Brad Pitt in the role of a Canadian abolitionist and Michael Fassbender as a villainous slave owner. Also on board are Alfre Woodard, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano and the adorable Quvenzhané Wallis from Beasts of the Southern Wild.
