We're big fans of creative faux store exteriors and speakeasies, so we were thrilled to see Scouting NY's compilation of the 8 Best Fake Storefronts & Phony Building Facades in New York City today.

Scout rounded up some of our favorites, including Beauty and Essex, a fancy Lower East Side eatery masked by a working pawn shop, and PDT, a swanky reservations-only speakeasy bar hidden behind a phone booth in an East Village Crif Dogs.

Also of note: The Brooklyn Superhero Supply Store in Park Slope, which sells fun world-saving goods like Antimatter, superhero capes and invisibility gear out front, and covertly opens up to Dave Eggers's 826 NYC student literacy program; and a fake townhouse in Brooklyn Heights owned by the MTA that serves as a subway ventilator and emergency exit.

Check out the post for the full list, and see if you can figure out the top secret No. 1 pick.
