Time Out says

Celebrate the High Holidays with East Side Synagogue's free services, now in their 34th year. The September 21 Rosh Hashanah service (10am-2:15pm) features Jewish "kosher gospel” singer Joshua Nelson, award-winning music of Broadway and TV composer Gary William Friedman and the sounds of the ram's horn (Shofar). Free light lunch follows the service. These services are geared to Jews from Reform, Conservative and unaffiliated backgrounds as well as people of all faiths or no faith. No background or Hebrew knowledge is needed for this singing and dancing service. No tickets or reservations are required and donations requested. There will also be a Yom Kippur service September 30 (10am-3pm). That service is followed by a group dialogue on topics ranging from social justice and the deeper meaning of Yom Kippur, to a Memorial Service for personal losses and communal tragedies (16th anniversary of 9/11, Holocaust, Charlottesville, Barcelona, Orlando, San Bernardino, Nice, Paris terrorist attacks). The day ends with a candle-lit ceremony with dancing so don't miss out on all of the holiday festivities.
