Time Out says

The modern American musical wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the contributions of Harold "Hal" Prince. This NYPL exhibit examines Prince's legacy.

In a career that spanned over 50 years, Harold "Hal" Prince's work as a producer, director and collaborator completely revolutionized the American musical. Prince was an instrumental part in the production of many of the most revered musicals to ever grace the Great White Way—West Side Story, Sweeny Todd, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof and The Phantom of the Opera to name just a few. The New York Public Library has put together a massive exhibition celebrating Prince's life and work. The exhibition includes set models, costumes, scripts, the roulette wheel Prince kept in his office (because theater is a gamble), archival video and more. There is even an open cabaret stage for visitors to perform songs from Prince's shows. In addition to the exhibition, which runs through March 2020, the library will present a series of free programs.
