Follow the travels of the little cucarachita, or “little roach”, Martina, as she searches for love and finds friendship and happiness on her way. Young theater-goers will interact with the puppet performers and learn about how animals communicate through sounds. Master puppeteer Jose Lopez brings to life otherworldly bunraku (Japanese-style) creations who sing and dance through the story with rock 'n roll and Latin beats. Inspired by the life of beloved Puerto Rican author and storyteller Pura Belpre, the performances are presented in both Spanish and English to entice the young audience with the sights and sounds of two cultures. All ages.
