Looking for a bit of rock & roll enlightenment? Check out one of two free events tonight.

Option 1: Greenpoint bookshop WORD hosts Ian Svenonius—punk journeyman, author of Supernatural Strategies for Making a Rock 'n' Roll Group and lead singer of such bands as Chain and the Gang, the Make-Up and Nation of Ulysses—who will reveal the secrets to surviving life on the road.

Option 2: Bar-rental shop Videology screens Oscar-nominated doc Searching for Sugar Man, about '70s folk balladeer Sixto Rodriguez who faded into obscurity in the U.S. despite attaining cult-hero status in South Africa. Details on the screening are here. It'd be good prep for seeing the singer live when he comes to NYC in April.
