Photo of the day: Columbia University under the snow

Yesterday’s snowfall—which set a record for February 3—has led to some very pretty views, even if it does make commuting a little messy

Can we all agree that yesterday's snowfall has made the trees in NYC look exceptionally beautiful? Even if the slush makes it a little hard to get around, we love the look of crystallized branches, like in the photo above, taken at Columbia University.

Turns out the storm yesterday set a record for snow (8 inches!) in Central Park for February 3. But that's not all—expect snow, sleet and freezing rain to start around midnight tonight and extend through Wednesday. Fun! It could lead to up to six inches of snow in the city—and, possibly, more snow all weekend. Get ready for a winter wonderland of a week with our storm survival guide, cold-weather recipes, and seasonal cocktails and cozy bars.
