    32-37 47th St #2

    Three-bedroom in Astoria, $2,800/month ($933 per person)

First up this week is this three-bedroom half a block from the 46 St M,R stop. Two of the bedrooms will fit a king size bed, there are hardwood floors and lots of windows. Overall, it’s a good, spacious find, and if you’re a fan of murky grey-green paint, well, you just hit the jackpot, friend.

    Broadway at Marcy Ave #4F

Two-bedroom in Williamsburg, Brooklyn; $2,000/month ($1,000 per person)

Sitting right next to the Marcy Ave J, Z, M stop, this pad is at least a ten-minute walk from the tourist-inundated hustle of Bedford Avenue, but admirers of the Williamsburg Bridge will find the location a bonus. The apartment itself is on the functionally old-fashioned side, but nothing that couldn’t be spruced up with a few practical hipster accessories, like a hat stand, some ironic taxidermy and a $7,000 Mac tower.

    Ridge St #B1

Three-bedroom on the Lower East Side, $2,950/month ($983 per person)

We never thought we’d see an apartment on the Lower East Side for under a grand a month again in our lifetime, but here’s a three-bed with a separate common room, an easy stroll from both the LES highlights and the East Village. Astonishingly, it looks to be in pretty good shape, with the hardwood floors intact and the walls freshly painted. We’d say it seems too good to be true, but then that would mean that years of apartment hunting in New York had made us bitter and cynical and half-crazy with regret and rage, and that couldn’t possibly be true.

    35-30 73rd St

Two-bedroom in Jackson Heights, Queens; $1,900/month ($950 per person)

For less than a grand a month comes this 900-square-foot pad with laundry, a yard and a live-in super. Weirdly, the listing says dogs are okay, then immediately goes on to contradict itself by saying NO DOGS. Short version: This is a great space for someone who isn’t certain whether or not they own a dog.

    100 Cornelia St #1R

Two-bedroom in Bushwick, Brooklyn; $2,000/month ($1,000 per person)

“This apartment is a winner!” claims the listing. A winner of what is never made clear, but it seems like a roomy space with just enough old-school touches to give it some character. And we mean that in the way it’s supposed to be used, not the way you see it in the New York real-estate agent to English dictionary.
